Privacy Policy

This site is a set of static pages. There are no accounts, no logins, no comment boxes and no forms of any kind, and nothing is paid for here, so the amount of information involved is small to begin with.

Information Gathered

When analytics is active, it records visits in aggregate: which pages were viewed, a rough sense of where in the world the visit came from, the device type, and which listing links were clicked. That last measurement matters most here. It answers one question: did this page help someone pick between a pasta and tiramisu class and a sunset food and wine walk, or between a Sant'Ambrogio market tour and a bistecca dinner? Usefulness is the only thing being tested. No individual is identified. Names, email addresses and payment details are never stored, because the site never asks for them and has nothing to sell you directly.

Cookies and Other Sites

Analytics runs on cookies of its own. Embedded maps work differently: the content loads from the provider's servers as the page renders, and whatever that provider then sets is governed by its privacy policy rather than this one.

Click a tour listing and you move onto the booking provider's own ground. That provider places its own cookies to track the session and record where the sale came from. Such cookies are governed by the provider's policy, not by ours, and the same principle applies to any cooking school, market vendor or trattoria site you visit afterwards. The disclosure page sets out who pays what and to whom.

Off-Limits for Us

Hosting

A third-party hosting company serves these pages and keeps routine server logs, IP addresses included, to guard against abuse. Those logs are never examined to work out who you are or to match a reader with the restaurant guides they opened.

Your Choices

Tracking protection in your browser, an ad blocker, or a Do Not Track setting will stop the analytics script from running, and nothing on the site breaks when it does. Turning JavaScript off altogether is another option: the guides still load, and the tour comparisons, the price notes and the category pages all display their full contents without it, apart from the mobile menu. If you would rather leave no cookie of any kind, you can copy a tour title from these pages and search for it on the live booking page yourself.
